Abstract

A synthetic strategy based on the sequential application of an aromatic aza-Claisen rearrangement and an intramolecular Heck reaction as the key steps has been developed for the synthesis of various new coumarin- and quinolone-annulated benzazocinone derivatives in 60–70% yields.
